On Dads ~
"Ah, Jack Tanner, it's a great part, a great part."
Franklin Reeve, father of actor Christopher, ". . . was excited and ordered champagne. Christopher had just shared the news that he had the lead in Superman. Then it slowly dawned on Christopher: His dad thought that he had gotten the role of Jack Tanner in George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman.
"For Franklin Reeve, a graduate of Princeton with a Ph.D. from Columbia, popular culture was far, far away."

Science fiction writer, Ray Bradbury, died on June 6, 2012. Bradbury left a legacy of hope for mankind. When asked how he felt when he saw the pictures of Saturn that Voyager sent back, he made this observation.
"It was wonderful for the human spirit. It was something we could all share, something that united us in its beauty. It had nothing to do with sex, race, or country. It embodied no philosophy. It showed that we could do anything ~ rebuild our cities, clean our streams and end our energy problem while colonizing the moon at the same time. It has nothing to do with money. All we have to do is use our imagination."

"The party's here," the sign reads. Kay Barones, owner of Barone's Books, appears to be the only one surprised at all the attention. Watching customers dodge CHCH T.V. camera and reporter, Lisa Hepfner, Kay said, "This is going on the six o'clock news! I didn't even know they were coming."
After twenty-six years, co-workers and friends [interchangeable] are saying 'Thanks' for the memories. Barones is closing their door on July 14.
Tomorrow: More Barone's photos and names. (Please click on photo for larger image.)
