"I can think of nothing better than to be an author." ~ Raymond Carver, American writer, poet (1938 - 1988) on being asked how he wanted to be remembered.
Kurdo Baksi wrote a book Stieg Larsson, My Friend.* In it he tells us that it was almost five years before he could bring himself to write about his close friend and colleague. He tells us that on the back of the order of service at Larsson's funeral was a poem by Raymond Carver, "Late Fragment."
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
*Viking Canada, 2010.
