Alistair MacLeod, won the Dublin IMPAC award, (the world's richest literary prize) for his novel No Great Mischief published when he was sixty-four years old.
 
He was born in North Battlefield, Saskatchewan and was raised among an extended family in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.  Until his retirement in 2000, Dr. MacLeod spent all of the winter months as a professor of English at the University of Windsor, Ontario.  He suffered a stroke in January, 2014.
